Privacy
This notice covers this website, analemma-labs.com, and email you send to hello@analemma-labs.com. If you use TerraADV, the TerraADV Privacy Policy covers what the app and its services collect.
The website
We don’t set cookies, and the site has no analytics, advertising, tracking or forms. Every file, including the fonts, is served from this site. The sun readout on the home page is calculated in your browser, and nothing about it is sent anywhere.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes standard request information, such as your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for, and may do so outside Australia. We don’t use that information to identify you.
The analemma tool
The analemma tool works out the sun's position in your browser. If you use the location button, your browser asks your permission and hands the coordinates to the page; they stay there, and are never sent to us. Coordinates you type stay in the page too, though they do appear in the address bar so that a link you copy restores your settings.
If you search for a place by name, the text you type is sent to our server, which asks OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoder on your behalf and remembers the answer for a month. Your IP address is not passed on, and we keep no search history of our own beyond the short-lived request logs described above.
Colouring the figure by temperature asks our server for climate averages, which it fetches from NASA POWER and caches for a month. We round the coordinates to half a degree, about 55 km, before they leave our server, so the place we ask about is a wide area rather than wherever you are.
If you email hello@analemma-labs.com, the message goes to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace. We use what you send only to reply to you, and we won’t add you to a mailing list. Ask and we’ll delete it.
Your choices
Email hello@analemma-labs.com to ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
If any of this changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
